Oakland Police Press Release 9/8/11
On September 3, 2011 at approximately 4:50 A.M. an armed robbery occurred at the Safeway grocery store located at 6310 College Ave. The suspect approached the cashier and after purchasing an item, pulled out a gun, pointed it at the cashier and demanded money. The suspect appeared to be an African-American male with a light complexion in his early 20’s, 5’7 ft tall, 175 pounds, with black hair and green eyes. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a white t-shirt underneath. He appeared unshaven and was wearing an earring in his right ear.
After committing the robbery, the suspect fled on foot and fired his gun when security attempted to approach him. Although there were no injuries in this incident, this crime is a priority to the Police Department due to the suspect’s willingness to fire his weapon. The attached photos show the suspect in line shortly before and during the commission of the crime. Police we do not believe the other customers in line are connected to this crime.
