Two Castroville men were arrested by the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office after an armed robbery at a liquor store in Chualar on Friday night. Edgar Aguayo and Jorge Sanchez are suspected of robbing the Chualar Market at 24335 Grant St. around 7:50 p.m., deputies said. Two suspects who were both armed with handguns entered the store, demanded cash and threatened to shoot employees, according to the sheriff’s office.
The men took less than $200 from the register and fled the scene, deputies said. Witnesses who saw the suspects leave told deputies the men were driving a 2008 Acura TL and also provided a license plate number. Deputies found the car near Salinas and arrested Aguayo and Sanchez on suspicion of robbery, along with gang and drug-related offenses.
