Published by on September 3, 2011

A man was shot early this morning while sitting in his car in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood, a police lieutenant said. The 24-year-old man had been sitting in his vehicle in the 1000 block of Harrison Street, near Sixth Street, when two suspects approached, fired into the vehicle and fled on foot, Lt. Troy Dangerfield said today. The victim was struck several times and was transported to a hospital, where he was treated for what are considered life-threatening injuries, Dangerfield said. Witnesses provided information that enabled an officer to arrest one of the suspects and recover a handgun, Dangerfield said. Police are searching for the second suspect who is described as an African American male between 20 and 23 years old. The active investigation is being conducted by the Southern Police Station and the gang task force, Dangerfield said.
