* Man Killed In East Oakland Shooting Identified

Prosecutors allege that two suspects in a murder in Concord on A man who was fatally shot in East Oakland on Wednesday night was identified today as 20-year-old Ricky Surrell, of Oakland. Oakland police said officers responded to a shooting in the 2400 block of 77th Avenue, near Bancroft Avenue, at about 7:20 p.m. Officers found Surrell suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The killing occurred in one of the eight beats in East Oakland where Mayor Jean Quan has said 92 percent of violent crime in the city takes place.
