Two Los Angeles police officers from the 77th Street Division were investigating a series of burglaries and stopped some pedestrians to talk to them. The suspects then opened fire on the officers seriously wounding one officer. The suspects were described black males approximately 18 to 25 years old. One of the men was wearing a white shirt and black pants, and the other had on a white shirt with blue long sleeves and dark pants.
