Police are seeking two vehicles suspected of fleeing after striking a man who apparently laid down on a street in Redwood City to commit suicide on Thursday night. Officers responded at 9:04 p.m. to a report of an accident between a vehicle and pedestrian in the 1800 block of El Camino Real. They arrived to find a man suffering from serious injuries in the roadway. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Investigators discovered that the man had apparently told a bystander that he was going to kill himself just moments before walking into the roadway and lying down. He was run over by two vehicles, both of which left the scene without stopping, according to police. Police are searching for the two cars, described as a small silver sedan and a small black SUV. Anyone with information about the case or the whereabouts of the vehicles is asked to call Redwood City police at (650) 780-7100.
