Police arrested an East Palo Alto man today in connection with a strong-arm robbery in early August, authorities said. Vicente Arellano Buentostro, 19, was arrested at about 8 a.m. at a family member’s home in the 2200 block of Pulgas Avenue in East Palo Alto, Redwood City police said. Buentostro was arrested for allegedly shoving a 22-year-old Redwood City resident to the ground and stealing her cellphone Aug. 1, authorities said.
The suspect approached the woman and began a conversation when he shoved her to the ground. The victim sustained minor injuries, police said. The suspect fled on foot and witnesses said they saw him enter a parked vehicle that was nearby. Officers located the vehicle unoccupied shortly after the robbery, police said. Detectives identified the suspect and issued an arrest warrant Aug. 4. He was booked into San Mateo County jail.
