A 19-year-old man was arrested in Pebble Beach after allegedly punching a bar employee while an accomplice ran off with a stolen bottle of liquor Tuesday night, said the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff’s officials said a suspect went into a bar at the Spanish Bay resort on 2700 17 Mile Drive, and took a bottle of gin around 11:20 p.m.
An employee chased the suspect, but when the employee ran outside the alleged thief’s accomplice, Corey O’Halloran, 19, of Pacific Grove, punched and pushed the employee, before running off to join his partner, officials said. Bar employees caught O’Halloran and held him down until deputies arrived.
The supposed gin thief was not caught, although sheriff’s officials said they are following up on leads to find the suspect. O’Halloran is on probation for trespassing on Pebble Beach property and also has a court-ordered “stay away” order, officials said. He was arrested and booked into Monterey County jail.
