A Fremont man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving in connection with a car collision late Tuesday night that injured one person in Livermore, police said.Officers responded to the intersection of North Livermore Avenue and Las Positas Road at about 11 p.m., where police said a man driving a Chevy Tahoe apparently ran a red light, striking a Toyota Camera.
The Camry had been turning from southbound North Livermore Avenue onto eastbound Las Positas Road when it was struck on its passenger side by the Tahoe. The Tahoe’s driver — Joseph Munoz, 34, of Fremont – ran away from the area. Witnesses directed authorities to the nearby Hawthorn Suites extended-stay hotel, where Munoz was taken into custody on suspicion of drunken driving causing injury and for fleeing the scene of an injury collision, police said.
Munoz was medically evaluated at ValleyCare Medical Center in Pleasanton before he was booked at Santa Rita jail to make sure he wasn’t injured. Results of a blood test that was taken while he was there have not been returned, police said. The Camry’s 41-year-old driver was transported to Eden Trauma Center and was listed in stable condition with injuries that were not believed to be life threatening. An initial investigation of the crash closed the intersection for about five hours, police said.
