Four violent events that took place across Oakland early this morning left one man dead and three other men hospitalized, police said. At 12:06 a.m., officers responded to a report of gunshots heard in the 1800 block of 79th Avenue, which is near the Arroyo Viejo Park. Officers found an unresponsive man whom medical crew then pronounced dead, Officer J. Moore said. Minutes later and about two miles away, police reported to the 5300 block of Foothill Boulevard near Fairfax Avenue, where officers found a man with a gunshot wound at 12:09 a.m., Moore said.
At 3:47 a.m., police received another report of violence near the same intersection when two male suspects allegedly kidnapped and raped a woman in the 5300 block of Fairfax Avenue. The victim was transported to a hospital, police said. Three minutes later, two people were robbed and shot in the 3800 block of Foothill Boulevard by three suspects, one of whom had a firearm, police said. The three male shooting victims were all transported to a hospital. For all four events, there are no suspects in custody, police said. Violence near Arrojo Viejo Park in May claimed the life of Ditiyan Franklin Jr., 17, who was shot on near the park’s east side in the 2400 block of Ritchie Street.
