A teenager who was shot to death at a birthday party in Antioch on Saturday night has been identified as 16-year-old Oakley resident Martin Navarro, according to the Contra Costa County coroner’s office. The shooting happened shortly after 10:15 at a house in the 2800 block of Seville Circle. As soon as shots were fired, everybody at the party began running, Antioch police Sgt. Diane Aguinaga said.
Responding officers found Navarro suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to Sutter Delta Medical Center, where he died. A 17-year-old girl who had jumped into a friend’s car when she heard the gunshots was also injured when the shooter fired at the vehicle as it fled, Aguinaga said. The girl’s friends took her to the hospital, where she was treated and released. Investigators believe the shooting was gang-related, but as of today no arrests had been made, Aguinaga said.
