* Captain Rikki Goede Promoted to San Jose Assistant Chief of Police

Police Chief Chris Moore has selected Captain Rikki Goede as the new Assistant Chief of Police. Assistant Chief Goede will replace Diane Urban, who recently left the department to become the Chief of Police in Hayward, California.

In her 15 years with the San Jose Police Department, Assistant Chief Goede has worked her way up through the ranks and has served in numerous assignments including Patrol, Narcotics, Community Services, Day Detectives, Internal Affairs, Gang Investigations and Homicide.  Assistant Chief Goede’s career reflects a high level of commitment as well as dedicated service.  Most recently, Goede was assigned as the Southern Division Patrol Captain.  Goede also has 10 years of experience as an officer and sergeant with the San Diego Police Department.

Assistant Chief Goede is a graduate of Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  She is also a graduate of both LAPD’s West Point Leadership Course and Community Leadership in San Jose.  As the Assistant Chief, Goede will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Department.  “It is truly an honor to have been selected as the new Assistant Chief,” Goede stated of her new assignment.  “Being the Assistant Chief is a big committment, but I’m excited and very much looking forward to the challenge.”

City leaders applauded Assistant Chief Goede’s selection.  “I applaud Chief Moore’s decision to promote Rikki Goede to Assistant Chief of Police,” said City Manager Debra Figone of the appointment.  “In addition to her strong policing skills, she understands the importance of building positive police / community relations through partnerships and open dialogue with residents, neighborhood leaders and businesses.”

“Rikki stands out as a talented leader,” added Police Chief Chris Moore.  “We’re counting on her to help guide this department through some challenging times.”
