* Noe Vargas Arrested for Allegedly Stabbing a Man in Salinas

A man was arrested for allegedly stabbing another man 12 times Friday morning at a Salinas park. Police responded to Closter Park, located at 401 Towt St., after receiving a report of a stabbing at about 11:10 a.m. Officers found the victim, who appeared to be in his early 20s, with multiple stab wounds to his chest. Following witness descriptions, officers checked the area and found 18-year-old Noe Vargas. He was arrested after witnesses identified him as the suspect in the stabbing. The victim was transported by helicopter to a hospital, where he underwent surgery. He was listed in critical condition. Vargas was transported to Monterey County jail. The motive for the attack is unknown.
