* 10-year-old girls riding their bicycles in Petaluma startled when man approached them with pant unbuttoned

Two 10-year-old girls riding their bicycles in Petaluma on Friday morning were startled when a strange man approached them, police said. The girls were riding their bikes shortly before 11 a.m. near St. Francis Drive and St. Joseph Way when a rust-colored vehicle — possibly a Volvo — drove up to them, police said.

The driver attempted to talk to them and one of the girls noticed that his pants were unbuttoned and pulled open. The man was not touching his groin area, police said.The girls were startled and rode away, and told police about the incident. Officers responded to the area but were unable to locate any vehicles matching that description. There have not been any other reports of similar activity in the area, police said.
