Two Sonoma residents are in custody for stolen vehicle and drug charges after being pulled over by police in Petaluma this morning, police said. Police attempted to pull over Jason Knight, 33, driving a stolen vehicle southbound on U.S. Highway 101 near the Lakeville Highway offramp at 12:37 a.m., according to Petaluma police officers. Knight’s girlfriend, Megan Galut, 20, was driving separately and attempted to block officers from Knight’s vehicle.
Police were eventually able to pull both cars over. Knight was arrested for possessing a stolen vehicle. Galut’s car was searched with the assistance of police dog Kilo and police found over a half-ounce of methamphetamine and evidence of drug sales. Galut was determined to be under the influence of methamphetamine. Galut was also arrested and her bail has been set at $40,000. Knight’s bail was set at $10,000.
