Redwood City police arrested a man Sunday after he allegedly stabbed another man during a personal dispute, police said. Officers located the victim, a 29-year-old Redwood City resident, with a stab wound in his upper torso in an alley off the 3700 block of Rolison Road at 3:45 p.m.
He was transported to a local hospital and is expected to recover after undergoing surgery. Dantis Sims, 58, was arrested in connection with the stabbing. Sims is a resident of that neighborhood who said the victim allegedly broke the front window of his apartment, according to police. The two men are neighbors in the same apartment complex but it is unclear why the victim would have broken Sims’s window, Sgt. Sean Hart said.
Police have not yet been able to interview the victim as he has been hospitalized since the incident, but police do not believe that the two men had any prior relationship, Hart said. He said the two men argued about the window until Sims left his apartment to confront the victim and allegedly stabbed him once.
Police were already en route to respond to the broken window when the call was escalated to a stabbing, Hart said. Sims was booked into San Mateo County Jail and was arraigned today for attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
