Police arrested a man suspected of two armed robberies in downtown Gilroy on Saturday night, including one that hospitalized a 15-year-old boy, police said. Police went to Saint Louise Regional Hospital to interview a teenage boy, who said he had been assaulted during a mugging in the 7200 block of Eigleberry Street at around 10:00 p.m.
The teenager was being treated for serious but not life-threatening injuries, police said. During the investigation, officers responded to a second armed robbery in the 7400 block of Montgomery Road. A 46-year-old man said he was robbed by two suspects, including one who was brandishing a knife.
Antonio Rodriguez, a 20-year-old Gilroy resident, was arrested after a security guard at a downtown business said he was harassing customers and attempting to rob them. Rodriguez was positively identified as participating in one of the armed robberies, according to Gilroy police.Police are investigating the incidents and searching for a second suspect.
