* Parolee Arrested in Castro Valley After Police Chase

Published by on August 2, 2011

Alameda County sheriff’s deputies and Fremont police apprehended a parolee after a car chase through Castro Valley this afternoon, a sheriff’s spokesman said. Deputies spotted the parolee, a 28-year-old Union City man who had an outstanding warrant for his arrest, drive away from the Econo Lodge in Castro Valley and attempted to pull him over around 1 p.m., Alameda County sheriff’s Sgt. Ray Kelly said.

The suspect did not stop, and led deputies on a five-minute car chase through Castro Valley before he exited the car after hitting a dead end on Gregory Street, Kelly said. He began hopping over fences to escape capture as police set up a perimeter around the neighborhood, according to Kelly. A sheriff’s K-9 unit captured the suspect and he was taken into custody. Police did not find a weapon on the man. Kelly declined to release the suspect’s name, citing an ongoing investigation. No one was injured during the pursuit.
