A woman was killed and a man was seriously injured while waiting to enter an apartment complex in Richmond this morning, a police lieutenant said. Officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 400 block of Eighth Street around 2:30 a.m., Richmond police Lt. Bisa French said. Police soon found a vehicle crashed nearby in the 700 block of Nevin Avenue. A 24-year-old man was found suffering from a gunshot wound in the car and a 25-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, French said. It appears the two were waiting to enter an apartment complex when shots were fired at the car, she said. The woman left the vehicle and was found lying on the sidewalk, French said. The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Police do not have any suspects in custody and have not released any further information about the homicide.
