An Oakland man is in critical condition today after he was shot while feeding the homeless with his family in East Oakland early this morning, a police spokeswoman said. Police responded at about 12:30 a.m. to the 1000 block of 47th Avenue after someone flagged down a California Highway Patrol officer to report the shooting, Oakland police Sgt. Holly Joshi said.
Officers found the man and his wife suffering from gunshot wounds, and the couple was taken to a hospital for treatment.
