* San Francisco’s North Beach Place Apartments shooting

One person was shot in San Francisco’s North Beach neighborhood tonight, a fire dispatcher said. Emergency personnel responded to the intersection of Columbus Avenue and Mason Street after receiving a report of the injured person at about 9:45 p.m., the dispatcher said.

The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment nine minutes later. A resident of North Beach Place Apartments, located a few blocks away at 455 Bay St., said that as of 10:30 p.m., police with flashlights were searching for gun casings in the area of Francisco and Taylor streets. A call to a San Francisco police spokesman was not immediately returned.
