Officers this week arrested a man suspected of beating a supermarket employee in Fairfield in June, police said. The employee was attacked at a store in the 1900 block of West Texas Street at around 8:45 p.m. on June 13. The victim was hit on the side of the head with a glass liquor bottle and beaten by three suspects, police said. His injuries were not life-threatening. The suspects ran away before officers arrived, police said. The Fairfield Police Department’s gang unit investigated the incident, which police believe was gang-related.

Investigators identified Manuel Godinez, 19, of Fairfield as one of the three suspects, according to police. Detectives began surveillance of an apartment in the 2300 block of Peachtree Drive at around 1 p.m. Wednesday and arrested Godinez shortly after, police said. A second male was detained at the scene but was released after questioning.
