UPDATE-ARRESTED

Officers are searching for a man who allegedly assaulted his mother, pointed a gun at her head, and evaded a SWAT team Wednesday night, police said. Police responded to the 3900 block of Doral Drive at around 8:20 p.m. on reports that a man had choked his 75-year-old mother until she nearly lost consciousness and aimed a gun at her head. The woman had fled to a neighbor’s house to call police.

Officers spotted the suspect, Michael Austin, 39, at the house when they arrived, police said. Surrounding homes were evacuated as a precaution and the department’s SWAT team was deployed along with the crisis negotiations team, police said.   Search and arrest warrants were issued around midnight. The SWAT team tried to make contact with Austin for several hours before entering the home, police said. Austin was not found in the home or during a search of the surrounding area.

Austin was described as a white man, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 190 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Police said Austin is considered armed and dangerous.

  • Correction: Michael did NOT “point a gun AT her HEAD”. He was waving it around and was TEN FEET away!! (or more). He pointed it at his OWN head.

Correction: She DID NOT “nearly lose consciousness”.

And why would reporters report that they had a “crisis negotiations team” there when there was NOBODY THERE for them to negotiate WITH! Michael was already gone by the time SWAT got there. Answer: to sensationalize ‘the piece’…’for a better read’ (…’for money!’)

He was NOT at the house when SWAT arrived. Yet, for some reason they still felt the need to use their ‘Rambo’ tear gas to absolutely RUIN his mom’s house!! And…the reason they only “TRIED” ‘to make contact with him for several hours before entering the home’ was because he wasn’t even IN the home. (And THAT’s where yours and my tax dollars are goin’ folks.) His mom has no intention press charges. Instead, the state has decided to go “forward” with it. Michael is KIND, AND GOOD AND GENTLE. Our “system” FAILED him!! BADLY!! They gave him treatment for depression while on disability then ripped it out from underneath him when they decided…well,…when they ‘decided’ they ‘wanted to’. Now he’s in jail. –Where he should NOT BE!!!! If anything, he needs to be getting some mental care health. –just like SO SO SO many in our society. –some are ABLE to get that help. –some are not. –and ‘professional’ diagnoses are “iffy” at best among the vast majority of ‘professionals’. OK. Ya, that’s been my experience. And I DO have a fair amount of ‘experience’.

Please see my comments on CBS news (google: CBS news July 21, 2011 Michael Austin). I also left a comment or two on ABC.
