An alert Belmont mailman delivered three suspects in a home burglary to police Monday afternoon. The letter carrier noticed three unfamiliar males loitering near a house in the 400 block of Yorkshire Way around 2 p.m., according to Belmont police.
After seeing that the gate to the home’s backyard was open, the mailman called 911. Officers arrived and determined that the house had been burglarized. Belmont police found the trio a short time later and they were arrested on suspicion of residential burglary and possession of stolen property.
The suspects’ names are being withheld by police until their identities can be confirmed and the investigation is complete. Detectives are also in contact with other Peninsula law enforcement agencies to see if the trio is connected with any similar crimes.
