A woman who was found shot to death in a double homicide outside a Richmond apartment complex on Sunday night has been identified by the Contra Costa County coroner’s office as Melanie Williams. Williams, 37, a Richmond resident, was found lying on the sidewalk outside an apartment complex in the 400 block of Bissell Avenue around 10:15 p.m. Police also found a second victim, a man in his 30s whose name has not yet been released, Richmond police Lt. Bisa French said.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene. A third victim, a woman, was found suffering from a gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital, French said. She is expected to survive. Richmond police are investigating whether the double murder is related to a shooting that happened a couple of miles away about half an hour earlier, she said.
Around 9:45 p.m., police responded to reports of gunfire in the 200 block of Gertrude Avenue, French said. They found a 23-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening, she said.No arrests have been made in either shooting.
