East Bay Regional Park District police were on the Delta de Anza Trail in Pittsburg all night investigating a shooting Sunday night that sent one person to the hospital, police Lt. Jon King said today. The shooting was reported shortly before midnight just west of  Railroad Avenue, a dispatcher said.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where he made it through surgery, King said. An update on his condition were not immediately available this morning. As of 10:30 a.m., police were still at the scene collecting evidence, King said. Investigators were also following several leads, but no arrests had been made. The shooting is the second reported on the trail in less than a week.

At about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a report of a shooting near Atlantic Avenue and Harbor Street, where they found 20-year-old Pittsburg resident Marcus Jackson suffering from a gunshot wound to the back of his head, Pittsburg police Lt. Ron Raman said. Jackson died at the hospital Thursday, but remained on life support because he was an organ donor, according to the Contra Costa County coroner’s office.

Investigators believe that Jackson may have been involved in a feud in Antioch and was shot at several days earlier. He had reportedly been taking refuge in Pittsburg, Raman said. So far, no suspects have been arrested in connection with Jackson’s shooting, Raman said. King said there is no indication that the two cases are related.
