* Sheriff’s Deputies Need to Identify Alleged Copper Theft Suspect

ID #11-209

Santa Clara County sheriff’s deputies are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect in these photos.  Detective Henry Woo reports that on June 14, 2011 between 1 and 2 pm, this suspect was seen allegedly cutting and removing wires which are used to power the light rail tracks at the Santa Teresa Light Rail Station in South San Jose. When these copper wires were cut, it disabled part of the system and caused damage to the light rail cars by shorting out part of the electrical system within the light rail cars. The person was seen walking around the station prior to cutting the wires.

He is being assisted by an accomplice. An associated vehicle is an older model pickup with 2 racing stripes running from front fender to rear tailgate. The vehicle appears to possibly be a Chevy S10 pickup with front end damage.
