* Frank Austin Charged With Allegedly Murdering His Girlfriend
Published by Junior Staff Writer on July 8, 2011
An Oakland man was charged with murder today for the stabbing death of his girlfriend earlier this week, prosecutors said. Alameda County Deputy District Attorney Paul Hora said Frank Austin, 51, was expected to be arraigned on the murder charge at the Wiley Manuel Courthouse in Oakland later today. Oakland police said Austin called them shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday to report that he could not wake up his girlfriend at the home they shared at the Avondale residential hotel at 540 28th St. Police said they found signs of trauma on the woman’s body and medical officials pronounced her dead when they arrived at the home. Hora said she was stabbed multiple times and apparently had been dead for some time before Austin called police. Police haven’t released her name because her family hasn’t been notified.
