Police have identified a man who was found dead at an abandoned gas station in Concord on Tuesday as 57-year-old Concord resident Gene Sitzmann, Lt. Garrett Voerge said today. Officers headed to the gas station, which is at 2491 Monument Blvd., at about 12:20 a.m. after receiving a report of a dead body.
Based on evidence at the scene and the nature of Sitzmann’s injuries, police opened a homicide investigation, Voerge said. Investigators were still following up on leads this afternoon, but so far no suspects have been identified, Voerge said.
