A registered sex offender has been arrested on suspicion of raping a woman in her San Rafael motel room early Monday morning, police said. The woman told investigators a man forced his way into her room at the Villa Inn at 1600 Lincoln Ave., struck her in the face several times and raped her, San Rafael police spokeswoman Margo Rohrbacher said.
She eventually escaped and ran to the front desk for help. Police officers found the suspect naked and asleep in the bed when they went to the motel around 4:30 a.m., Rohrbacher said. Police arrested the man, 33-year-old Indugo Asifa Williams, of San Rafael, without incident, Rohrbacher said.
Williams was booked into Marin County Jail for rape, sodomy and oral copulation, all by force; assault with intent to rape; burglary; and a parole violation. He is being held on $100,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Marin County Superior Court on Wednesday morning.
