* Mentally ill Man Allegedly Assaults Oakland Police Officer, Sudued by Taser

A mentally ill man in Oakland allegedly attacked an officer early this morning, police said. The assault occurred in the 4100 block of Piedmont Avenue at around 12:30 a.m. The officer used a Taser to subdue the man, who police said was mentally ill. The officer was not injured and the man is at a hospital in stable condition, according to police.
