The Beeville Police Department in Texas, has released video of an officer involved shooting. According to detectives, on May 31st, 2011, Sgt. Chris Vasquez stopped Anthony Albert Ponce in a Walmart parking lot because he matched the description of a robbery suspect.
As Sgt. Vazquez was walking up to the car, Ponce exited his car with a gun in his hand. Sgt. Vazquez repeatedly orders Ponce to drop the gun. As both Sgt. Vazquez and Ponce walk out of camera view, Ponce points his gun at Sgt. Vazquez who then shoots and kills Ponce.
Ponce had a long criminal history including two assaults on public servants and three drunk driving arrests. The local grand jury later cleared Sgt. Vazquez of any wrong doing.
