Two armed robbery suspects surrendered to authorities this morning after a long standoff at an apartment complex in East Oakland, police said. Oakland police spokeswoman Cynthia Perkins said the suspects allegedly robbed two men of cash and other items in the 1200 block of 88th Avenue at about 10:45 p.m. Thursday night. She said police later traced the two male suspects to an apartment complex in the 5800 block of East 16th Street near Seminary Avenue.

Perkins said police surrounded the building, blocked off streets in the area and brought in their SWAT team and the suspects finally surrendered at about 8:45 a.m. today. She said police obtained a warrant to search the apartment complex because there were reports that there might have been a third suspect. However, Perkins said no one else has been arrested at this time and police were in the process of clearing the scene at the complex late this morning. She said no one was injured during the robbery or the standoff. Police hope to release additional details about the incident later today, Perkins said.
