Two adults were arrested in Martinez Thursday night after a 50-year-old man was assaulted with a deadly weapon — a 55-gallon steel trashcan. Police responded to a report at about 4:30 p.m. of an assault near the marina’s bocce ball courts, where the man had been hit in the face with the heavy receptacle. The victim was transported to Contra Costa County Regional Medical Center for treatment.
After officers conducted an investigation at the scene, they contacted Vinn Galvin, 51, at Rankin Park, and arrested him on suspicion of assaulting the victim. Galvin was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Lana Lozano, 42, was allegedly with Galvin during the attack and
at Rankin Park. Police arrested her, and she was booked into Martinez Detention Facility on suspicion of public drunkenness.
