A woman was robbed and assaulted in the parking lot of her Los Gatos apartment building over the weekend, Los Gatos-Monte Sereno police said. The assault was reported at 9:57 p.m. Sunday in the first block of East Main Street. Officers arriving at the scene found the victim, a 36-year-old woman, in the parking lot.

She told police that as she was getting out of her car at about 9:40 p.m., a man grabbed her from behind and dragged her to a secluded area of the parking lot. He demanded the victim’s purse and jewelry. After receiving those items from her, he struck her in the jaw with an unknown object, police said. The suspect then fled, and the woman contacted a neighbor to call police. She complained of jaw pain to the officers at the scene.

The suspect was described as a man with a deep voice, wearing a long-sleeve shirt or coat. Police searched the area but were unable to locate either the suspect or the items belonging to the victim.
