Santa Rosa police arrested several people at five residences in Santa Rosa and Windsor today for an alleged gang assault last month. The suspects allegedly assaulted two Santa Rosa men and an Idaho man on May 22. The confrontation began at the Safeway store parking lot at Guerneville and Marlow roads in west Santa Rosa around 1 a.m., Sgt. Rainer Navarro said.
The suspects then chased the victims across the street to a Shell gas station at 2005 Guerneville Road and stabbed them, Navarro said. The three victims escaped in a vehicle and were stopped by police a mile away. Their injuries were not life threatening, Navarro said.
The suspects ran away after the attack. Police investigators recovered evidence of the assault at the five residences searched today, Navarro said. Arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, mayhem and gang enhancements were Christian Israel Sotelo, 25, Rudy Flores, 21, Andy Madrigal, 20, Arturo Cortes Arevalo, 22, all of Santa Rosa; and Jaime Bermudez Jr., 19, of Windsor.
William James Landrum, 21, of Santa Rosa, who was taken into custody last week for a probation violation, also was arrested in connection with the assault, Navarro said. The suspects were booked into Sonoma County Jail on $150,000 bail. Sotelo and Landrum also were booked for probation violations related to gang associations, Navarro said. The investigation to determine if there are additional suspects is ongoing, Navarro said.
