Just blocks away from where Vallejo High School graduation ceremonies took place Wednesday afternoon, a 20-year-old man was shot in broad daylight, police said. Officers responded at 1:15 p.m. to the 600 block of Broadway, approximately one block west of the school where a fight apparently preceded the shooting that left the Vallejo man with a gunshot wound.
No students associated with the school were involved in the shooting or the fight, police said. The victim was transported by a passing motorist to Kaiser Permanente Vallejo Medical Center for treatment. Police said his injuries appeared to be serious but were not considered life-threatening.
