* Manuel Serrano Identified as San Jose’s 23rd Murder Victim

The victim in San Jose’s 23rd homicide has been identified as 44 year-old Manuel Serrano, a San Jose resident.  Detectives are still searching for clues as to the motive behind the homicide.  No additional information is available at this time.

San Jose: On Friday, June 3rd, 2011, at approximately 10:58 PM, San Jose Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 100 Block of Birch Lane.  Upon their arrival at the scene, officers located two gunshot victims.  Paramedics performed CPR on one of the victims at the scene.  Both victims were transported to Regional Medical Center where one of them was pronounced dead at 11:20 PM.  The second Victim was treated for a non-life threatening wound and released.

Preliminary investigation into the homicide revealed that the victims were standing in front of a residence drinking beer when an unknown male opened fire on them.  The suspect fled and is at large.  Detectives have not identified a motive in this homicide.

This marks San Jose’s 23rd homicide of the year.
