On June 04, 2011 at approximately 03:15 PM, an East Palo Alto Police Officer was on patrol at the Ravenswood 101 retail center. In the same area, a 20 year old German female tourist was being robbed of her handbag. Citizens flagged down the Officer to report a strong armed robbery which had just occurred and directed the Officer to a suspect who was fleeing on foot while being chased by two 17 year old good Samaritans. The Officer chased the suspect and, with the assistance of the good Samaritans, took the suspect into custody. The victim was not injured during the robbery and her property was returned.

The suspect, 18 year old Menlo Park resident, Joshua Wallbank Mahoni was booked into the county jail for robbery.

The East Palo Alto Police Department commends these two men for their bravery and for their commitment to public safety.
