* Burlingame police alert residencce of a recent increase in thefts from unlocked vehicles

Burlingame police are reminding residents to lock their cars in light of a recent increase in thefts from unlocked vehicles. The rise in auto burglaries has been concentrated in areas near the 500 block of Almer Road and the 1400 block of Bellevue Avenue, police said. Thieves have stolen money, GPS devices and other items, police said. Motorists are urged to remove valuables from parked cars. Police have increased patrols in those areas, and residents are urged to report suspicious activity to the Police Department at (650) 777-4100.
