Police arrested five Richmond residents in Antioch on Tuesday in connection with a residential burglary, Antioch police said. At about 10:33 a.m. police responded to a report of suspicious people in the area of Arbol Court. As officers arrived, they saw the group fleeing in a vehicle down Silverado Drive. Their vehicle was found abandoned a short time later on Grimsby Drive, police said. While they were searching the neighborhood for the suspects, officers were told that a residence at 2436 Silverado Drive had been burglarized.

Items found in the abandoned vehicle appeared to have come from the burglarized home, police said. Officers continued to search the neighborhood and found 25-year-old Rodney Lewis hiding in a backyard, police said. A second suspect, 21-year-old Eric Wilson, was stopped as he was trying to leave the neighborhood in a vehicle. Three more suspects, Darryl Lewis, 23, Wanisha Hall, 21, and Tashanique Brown, 20, were stopped a short time later as they were trying to leave in a different vehicle.

Witnesses identified Rodney Lewis, Darryl Lewis and Wilson as the alleged burglars. They were arrested and booked into county jail on suspicion of residential burglary. Hall and Brown were arrested as suspected accessories for allegedly trying to help the others escape. They were also booked into county jail. As of this morning, no formal charges had been filed against the suspects, according to court records.
