Police arrested a second suspect today in connection with a March shooting in Antioch that investigators are calling an attempted murder, Antioch police said. The shooting happened shortly before 2 a.m. on March 26 in the 2800 block of Gentrytown Drive. According to police, the victim had been at a local nightclub earlier that night when he ran into Keenan Lawson, 25, of Modesto, and his cousin Juan Sanders, 30, of Antioch.

The victim had recently been in a bad breakup with a female relative of the two cousins and the three men got into an argument. A short time later, the victim left the club and was parking his car in the 2800 block of Gentrytown Drive when a vehicle drove by him and the occupants shot at him with two different guns, police said. The victim, who was still in his car, was not hit. He told police he recognized the occupants of the car as Lawson and Sanders, police said.

On Monday, police searched Lawson’s home in Modesto and arrested him. Officers also allegedly found a gun in his vehicle, police said. He is being held in county jail on suspicion of attempted murder, shooting at an occupied vehicle and making threats. His bail has been set at nearly $1.3 million, according to jail records. Sanders was arrested today at a home on Sycamore Drive in Antioch. His bail information was not immediately available.
