* Jose Calderon Cisneros identified as homicide victim in Castroville

The victim of a Saturday evening homicide in Castroville has been identified as Jose Calderon Cisneros, 24, of Castroville, sheriff’s officials said.Deputies responded to reports of gunfire at about 5:45 p.m. Saturday and found Cisneros lying on the sidewalk near the intersection of Salinas and Haight streets, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.

The coroner’s office pronounced Cisneros dead at the scene, and an autopsy report later showed Cisneros died from multiple gunshot wounds, sheriff’s Commander Mike Richards said. The case is still open and under investigation, and the shooter remains at large. Anyone with information is urged to contact Sgt. T. Kaiser or Detective M.
