Two people were arrested in Danville today on suspicion of residential burglary after neighbors reported seeing them running down the street with a rifle case and a duffel bag, Danville police said.Police received a call shortly after 11 a.m. reporting a couple running down the street near the intersection of Paraiso Drive and Everett Place, police said.
Officers responded and arrested a female juvenile, but the male suspect initially got away, leaving the rifle case and duffle bag behind.Inside, investigators found a shotgun, jewelry and electronics that had been stolen from a home on Everett Drive, police said.Officers searched the neighborhood with help from San Ramon police and the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s office.
They eventually found the suspect, identified as 20-year-old Joseph Cefalou, in the backyard of a house on Liberta Court, police said. Cefalou was arrested on suspicion of residential burglary, possession of stolen property and a probation violation. He was booked into county jail. The female suspect was released pending further investigation.During the search, nearby James Baldwin Elementary School was locked down.
