A man sleeping in an alleyway in San Francisco’s Mission District was hit in the head with a baseball bat and robbed on Monday evening, police said. The robbery was reported shortly before 7:20 p.m. Monday near the intersection of 24th and Lilac streets. The 42-year-old victim was asleep in the alley when three suspects approached and one struck him on the head with the baseball bat, police said. A second suspect took the man’s money, and all three fled on foot, according to police. The victim was taken to California Pacific Medical Center’s St. Luke’s campus to be treated for injuries that are not considered life-threatening, police said. No detailed descriptions were immediately available for the three suspects, who remain outstanding.
