Three juveniles were arrested early Sunday morning on suspicion of firing shots at rival gang members, a San Rafael police sergeant said.Police officers heard three shots fired in the 400 block of Canal Street around 12:45 a.m. Sunday, Sgt. Jim Correa said.
Witnesses pointed to the suspects and police detained six people. A 16-year-old boy was in possession of a handgun, Correa said.Police learned the teen fired several shots at rival gang members but it does not appear anyone was struck, Correa said.
Shell casings and rounds found nearby matched the handgun the teen had, Correa said. Three juveniles were booked into juvenile hall for assault with a deadly weapon, being a gang member in possession of a handgun and participation in a criminal street gang, Correa said.
