A man who was arrested for allegedly shooting a 28-year-old man in San Jose on Friday was identified today as Jose Hernandez, according to police.Hernandez, 27, of San Jose, was arrested for allegedly shooting a man he potentially was acquainted with at about 8 p.m. Friday, police said.At about 8:05 p.m., police received a call from a motorist traveling near Snell and Hillsdale avenues who heard a gunshot and reportedly saw an injured man staggering away from the area, San Jose police Officer Jose Garcia said.
But when officers arrived at the scene, they were unable to locate a victim.Nearly 15 minutes later, police received another call from a witness at the intersection of Monterey Road and Curtner Avenue, about 3.5 miles away from the crime scene, reporting that a man with a gunshot wound had been spotted near a neighboring Shell gas station. Garcia said that the injured man had apparently fled the scene in his car immediately following the shooting and driven himself to the second intersection.
The man was transported to a local hospital to treat injuries not believe to be life threatening.A preliminary investigation revealed Hernandez and the victim potentially knew each other but were not affiliated with a gang, Garcia said.At 5:30 a.m. Saturday, police located Hernandez in the 3000 block of Bradshaw Drive, and he was then arrested.
