Police are investigating a shooting in San Jose that sent a 28-year-old man to the hospital on Friday night, a San Jose police officer said.At about 8:05 p.m., police received a call from a motorist traveling near Snell and Hillsdale avenues who heard a gunshot and reportedly saw an injured adult male staggering away from the area, San Jose police Officer Jose Garcia said.
However, when officers arrived at the scene, they were unable to locate a victim, according to Garcia.Nearly 15 minutes later, police received another call from a witness at the intersection of Monterey Road and Curtner Avenue, about 3.5 miles away from the crime scene, reporting that a man with a gunshot wound had been spotted near a neighboring Shell gas station.
Garcia said that the injured man had apparently fled the scene in his vehicle immediately following the shooting and driven himself to the second intersection. The man was transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.Police could not release the victim’s identity, as an investigation is still under way, Garcia said.No arrests have been made, but San Jose police detectives believe that the man responsible for the shooting knew the victim.
