Published by Junior Staff Writer on March 23, 2011
Two teenagers were arrested Tuesday night in Concord after allegedly assaulting a clerk at a wine shop as he was attempting to stop them from stealing alcohol, Concord police Cpl. James Carroll said today. Police were called to a wine shop in the 3400 block of Clayton Road at 10:43 p.m. to take a report of a robbery that had just happened. When officers arrived, they found the clerk suffering from a head injury. He told the officers that the two suspects had grabbed alcohol and tried to run out of the store. When he tried to stop them, they allegedly attacked him, Carroll said. The clerk’s injuries were not considered life-threatening, he said. The two suspects, ages 17 and 18, were arrested later that night when they were caught allegedly trying to break into cars, Carroll said.
