* Ruben Cortez Jr. Shot and Killed on South Bascom Avenue in San Jose

On 3/16/2011, at approximately 12:05 P.M., San Jose Police officers responded to the 800 Block of S. Bascom Ave. on a report of person that had been shot. Upon their arrival, they located the victim, an 18 year old San Jose resident, laying in the parking lot of a nearby restaurant. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a nearby hospital where he was admitted for his injuries. On 3/17/2011, at approximately 4:05 P.M., doctors pronounced the victim deceased as a result of the shooting.
